The Waterwheel Art Gallery opened it's doors in 1983 and it has since become a much loved local icon. Located alongside Amelia Island's beautiful marshes, the gallery sits on property that was once irrigated by a clever inventor's waterwheel (original wheel pictured left). The Waterwheel has always supported the local art community and features a variety of local artwork and superior framing services.
The Waterwheel Gallery is owned by Stephanie Medina. Originally from Albuquerque New Mexico, Stephanie hails from an artistic family going back several generations.
Starting with a Grandmother involved in the movies and theatre along with being a renowned artist; moving on to a mother who won national photography awards and was considered a master of the dying art form of photo colorization and restoration done by hand, to Stephanie who dabbles in art but prefers to collect and appreciate the art of others.
As owner of the Waterwheel Gallery, she is able to use her artistic skills in assisting clients with art purchases and designing their framing projects.
The Waterwheel Gallery has a loyal following of art collectors who recognize quality, attention to detail, and expert service presented in a friendly, warm atmosphere.
Our expert framers can help you frame anything from family photos to priceless masterpieces. All of our framing materials are of the highest quality with frames made in Rome, England, France, and of course the United States. Finished corner frames and hand embelished finishes can be made to order. Custom mirrors, shadow boxes, or hard to frame items are our specialties. Let us give your important documents and momentos an acid free invironment and protect them from harmful UV rays. We will gladly work with your designer to add that special touch to your home decor.
We pride ourselves in representing the area's finest artists. Of the 28 artists represented at the Waterwheel Art Gallery, 16 live on Amelia Island, 5 hail from Jacksonville, 2 from the St. Simons area, leaving only 5 who reside in other areas of Florida. This enables us to facilitate personal relationships between buyer and artist .
