Sonny Laton spent 25 years in the desert southwest of Arizona and New Mexico where he learned his silversmith schools. Influenced by the Indian silversmiths in styles and designs he soon developed his own style of jewelry and was well known throughout the southwest for his work in silver and turqoise.
His work has been published nationally on the cover of Lipidary Journal Magazine and has won many awards in gem and jewelry shows.
Retiring on Amelia Island in 1986 was quite a change. It was only recently that he began to work again with his skills in silver. Using a variety of stones as well as turqoise he has created many fine pieces that have lately been purchased by clients over a wide area of the country.
